Safeguarding

Safeguarding at the Midsummer Festival 2026

We want everyone to feel safe, welcome, and included at the Wolvercote & Wytham Midsummer Festival. We take the well-being of children, young people, and vulnerable adults seriously, and all activities are run with their safety in mind.

Our Key Safeguarding Principles

  • Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
The festival does not provide childcare or unsupervised children’s activities.
  • All volunteers follow a clear code of conduct and are briefed on safeguarding procedures.
  • A Designated Safeguarding Lead is available throughout the festival to respond to any concerns.
  • We maintain a safe environment across all activities, including the Fun Fest, walks, talks, indoor events, and craft sessions.
  • Any safeguarding concerns are taken seriously and handled promptly, respectfully, and confidentially.
  • Only the Safeguarding and Deputy Safeguarding lead should deal with any issues.

If You Need Help

If you have a concern about the safety or well-being of a child or vulnerable adult during the festival, please speak to a volunteer or contact our Safeguarding Lead immediately.
